Something Angelic

There are 3 levels of angelic beings.

Level 1

These angels serve as heavenly counsellors and are closest to God.

1. Seraphim
Seraphim’s are considered the highest order of the angelic hierarchy. These beings are highly evolved and are the closest to God and are thought to surround the thrones of God. They balance the movement of the planets, stars and the heavens by using sound, and sing God praises.

2. Cherubim
Cherubim’s are the guardians of the light, which emanates from the sun, the moon and the stars. They are the second highest order of angels and their name stands for ‘one who prays’ or ‘wisdom’. They are depicted on the Ark of the Covenant as its guardians and are also known as the record-keepers of heaven.

3. Thrones
Thrones are the third highest ranking order and are the angels of the planets. Each planet has its own throne – the guardian of our planet is the Earth Angel.

Level 2

These angels serve as heavenly governors.

1. Dominions
Dominions are the fourth ranking order of angels. They are governors, regulators of all of the angelic beings who are not as evolved as themselves. Their purpose is to advise the lower angelic groups.

2. Virtues
These are the fifth ranking order of the angels. They are often referred to as the ‘brilliant’ or ‘shining’ ones, since they are able to transmit enormous beams of divine light. They are the angels of miracles and blessings.

3. Powers
Powers are the sixth ranking order of angels. These may have been the first order of angels created by God. They protect our souls from evil beings and avenge evil in the world. The Powers are believed to be the keepers of the Akashic records (the records of all of the thoughts and actions that occur during each souls evolutionary journey). They oversee birth, death and rebirth.

Level 3

These angels serve as heavenly messengers.

1. Principalities
The seventh ranking order of angels. They are the overseers of large groups and organisations. They are believed to guard nations, cities and also leaders.

2. Archangels
Archangels are the eighth ranking order of angels. The most widely known are Gabriel, Michael and Raphael in particular.

3. Angels – most connected to the physical world
The ninth ranking order of angels, these are the closest to humanity. This group is made up of many different kinds of angels, with many different purposes. Guardian Angels are also included in this category.
